ANNUAL GIRLS’ HAVEN BENEFIT GOLF TOURNAMENT
On May 4, 2009 the Annual Girls’ Haven Benefit Golf Tournament was held at the Beaumont Country Club. The purpose of the tournament is to raise funds to be used for the program and personal needs of the girls who live at Girls’ Haven. This years’ event was a huge success with more than $115,000.00 raised for a very special cause.
The weather was beautiful and over 15 teams competed during the afternoon for the privilege of having their team name put on the Girls’ Haven Cup Championship Trophy. At the end of the day the team “ Economy Insulations “ was crowned the champions with a fantastic score of 51. Other teams competing, in the order of finish, were L & L Contractors #3, Steel Painters, Inc., Bouman & Associates #1, Bouman & Associates #2, Ritter Lumber, Provost Umphrey, Quality Mat #1, Quality Mat #2, L & L Contractors #1, L & L Contractors #2, Penland Foundation #1, Penland Foundation #2, Bouman & Associates #3, and Ja-Con.

The Best Gumbo Festival to Date
On Feb. 7, 2009, the 15th Annual Girls’ Haven Gumbo Festival was held at the Parkdale Mall parking lot. It turned out to be the top our past festivals by raising a net profit of $55,732.00. On a beautiful but windy day, 18 cook teams cooked and served gumbo in a very close competition.
